emailToday we pushed another update to the Woopra tracker to support two new campaign tracking capabilities. If you're not familiar with our campaign tracking tools, Woopra enables you to track campaigns across online channels by adding attributes to your URLs (our script is also compatible with Google Analytics' utm_ tags). For more background information on Woopra campaign tracking, please refer to our documentation.

Custom Visitor Properties

With this update you can now automatically track custom visitor properties and identify people when they click on campaign links and land on your website. For example, let's say you are sending an email to a new list of leads. You can tag the URLs in your email to include some properties that will identify the leads, such as email, name, or company.

To add these tags to the URLs, you simply have to prepend them with wv_. For example, let's say you want to tag the email and name of the customer, here's how you should do it:

As soon as Mason clicks on that URL and lands on your website, he will be automatically identified and his profile will be merged with his previous history. This is a great way to manage your email marketing leads and keep your data as accurate as possible.

Hide Campaign Properties

Now, you may want to hide all these properties from the URL as they're not that interesting and the user may want to share that URL. To keep things clean, you can enable a new configuration option in the Woopra tracker: hide_campaign

This feature uses HTML5 pushState API which allows you to rebuild the URL without reloading the page.

Important: These new capabilities are only available in the Woopra tracker v4 (latest tracker version).
